One of the major challenges many websites and email clients face today in this digital age is ensuring that file size is very small and download time is short for the end user. To this end, we were asked by a major web mail company to develop a light and easily installable WYSIWYG email text editor, with all the expected features of a mail client.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

This produce is an excellent example of our JavaScript experience. There is only 50K of main Java Script code in the final product, making the editor initialisation quicker than most other editors. We developed this editor on JavaScript using an object oriented programming paradigm that made its code understandable and easy to modify.

REGIONAL SUPPORT

A highly-useful feature is that is the editor is multilingual. Adding a new language support just requires the addition of a language initialisation file. There is absolutely no programming expertise required to be able to add a new language to the editor.

APPLICATION ADVANTAGES

You know how often users copy/paste text from MS Word. Did you ever see how much garbage gets pasted from MS Word with HTML? MS Word is brilliant for everything excluding HTML creation. Our editor automatically detects and cleans up superfluous tags that appear when text is copied from MS Word, without changing HTML formatting. Thus, you will always have clear and optimized HTML code that will never "break" your page when the editor is used as the CMS.

VISUAL DESIGN APPLICATION

Unfortunately, we cannot show the editor as it was designed in our portfolio, as it is the property of a web mail company and a private project. However, the editor can be 'skinned' easily to suit many designs and themes within the web mail browser. The design aspect is separated from JavaScript and the skinning process and is as simple as changing the CSS. The basic features as seen below in this sample (not indicative of design) were included in the final product.
